- 16,862 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the country
New Delhi: The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the country saw a rise in last 24 hours. During this period, 379 patients lost their lives to the infection, the health ministry said on Friday morning. This is higher than 246 deaths recorded the previous day.
A total of 16,862 persons tested positive for the infection during this period.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in India stands at 2,03,678, which is 0.6 per cent of the total cases. It is the lowest in 216 days, as per the ministry.
The daily positivity rate is 1.43 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.42 per cent.
Over 58.88 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now.
A total of 19,391 patients recovered from the infection.
The overall recovery is more than 3.33 crore, which is 98.07 per cent of the cases reported till now.
30.26 lakh vaccinated in 24 hours
Over 97.14 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country till now. Of these, 30.26 lakh were administered on Thursday.
Sudden surge in Gujarat; 34 new cases recorded
Gujarat witnessed a steep rise in number of new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday. With 34 new cases in 24 hours, the state witnessed an 82-day high. The highest number of cases, 7 each, was reported in Ahmedabad and Valsad. Over the past few days, the maximum rise has been seen in districts of South Gujarat, mainly Surat and Valsad.
