Covid-19: India records 3,614 new cases, 89 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: A day after witnessing a significant rise, the daily death toll due to Covid-19 in India saw a huge drop on Friday. As many as 89 patients succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning.

The death toll was 255 the previous day and 104 the day before that.

A total of 3,614 individuals tested positive for Covid during this period.

The daily positivity rate is 0.44 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.52 per cent.

Around 8.21 lakh samples were tested for the infection on Friday, taking the cumulative testing to over 77.77 crore.


98.71% recovery

A total of 5,185 patients recovered from Covid-19 on Friday. The cumulative recovery is over 4.24 crore, which is a 98.71 per cent recovery rate.

The active caseload stands at 40,559, accounting for 0.09 per cent of the cases recorded till now.


18.18 lakh vaccinated on Friday

Over 18.18 lakh individuals received the Covid vaccine in last 24 hours. So far, more than 1.79 billion (179.91 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
