Covid-19: India reports 35,662 cases, 281 deaths in 24 hours

  • Over 2.5 crore doses of Covid-19 were administered on Friday, the highest in a single day

New Delhi: The country reported 35,662 fresh cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. As many as 281 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in India is currently 3,40,639. This is 1.02 per cent of the total cases.

The daily positivity rate is 2.46 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.02 per cent.

The death toll has reached 4,44,529.

So far, over 55.07 crore tests have been conducted for Covid-19.


97.65% recovery

As many as 33,798 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The overall recovery figure has crossed 3.26 crore. The recovery rate is 97.65 per cent.


Record vaccination in a single day

Over 2.5 crore doses of Covid vaccine were administered accross the country on Friday, which was also the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Congratulations India! India has created history on PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. By administering more than 2.50 crore vaccine doses, a golden chapter has been written in the history of the country, and the world. This day belongs to the health workers,” said health minister Mansukh Mandaviya in a tweet.

“Looking forward to many more days of 2.1 crore #vaccinations. This pace is what our country needs,” Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted.


Kerala continued to account for the maximum number of Covid-19 cases in India. A total of 23,260 persons tested positive for the infection on Friday.
