New Delhi: India reported 34,457 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. As many as 375 patients lost their lives during this period.
The active caseload in the country is 3,61,340, the lowest in over 150 days.
The daily positivity rate is 1.98 per cent.
The active cases make up for 1.12 per cent of the total cases.
The recovery rate stands at 97.54 per cent, with 3.15 crore patients having recovered from the infection. A total of 36,347 recovered in last 24 hours.
The death toll has reached 4,33,964, which is 1.34 per cent of the total cases.
The maximum number of cases were reported in Kerala where 20,224 patients tested positive for the infection while 99 persons succumbed to it on Friday.
36.36 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses administered
The cumulative vaccination coverage in the country crossed 57.61 crore with the administration of 36,36,043 doses in last 24 hours.
Zydus Cadila’s ZyCov-D vaccine approved for emergency use on individuals above 12
Following recommendations by the subject expert committee, the ZyCov-D vaccine by Ahmedabad-based Zydus Cadila has been approved for emergency use on individuals above the age of 12. In a tweet, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “Double good news for the nation! @CDSCO_INDIA_INF approves the 1st DNA-based, needle-free #COVID19 vaccine in the world – ‘ZyCov-D’ of @ZydusUniverse.” He added that ZyCov-Dis the sixth Covid-19 vaccine to get approval in India, and the second one made indigenously.
