Covid-19: India reports 33,376 new cases, 308 deaths in 24 hours

  • 73 crore vaccine doses of Covid-19 administered so far

New Delhi: India witnessed a drop in the daily number of Covid-19 cases in 24 hours. The country reported 33,376 new cases in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. As many as 308 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

With the addition of the new cases on Saturday, the overall case tally in the country reached 3,32,08,330. The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is

3.91 lakh. This is 1.18 per cent of the total cases.

The daily positivity rate was 2.10 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 2.26 per cent.

Kerala accounted for 25,010 cases and 177 deaths of the total reported across the country.


Recovery rate at 97.49%

As many as 32,198 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. So far, over 3.23 crore patients have recoverd

The recovery rate stands at 97.49 per cent.

Over 73 crore vaccine doses were administered in 24 hours. The testing capacity was ramped up. Over 54.01 crore tests have been conducted so far.

PM Modi chairs high-level meeting to review Covid-19 situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the country. He reviewed the prevailing scenario, preparedness of the health systems to respond, availability of medical oxygen and production, supply and distribution of the vaccine.

He spoke about the need for constant genome sequencing to monitor emergence of mutants. He said that the entire ecosystem to ensure increased oxygen availability, including oxygen concentrators, cylinders and PSA plants needed to be rapidly augmented.
