Covid-19: India records 2,539 new cases, 60 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country recorded 2,539 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Thursday morning.

As many as 60 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The overall death toll has reached 5,16,132.

The daily positivity rate is 0.35 pe cent, while the weeky positivity rate is 0.42 per cent.

Around 7.17 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 in the country, taking the cumulative testing figure to over 78.12 crore.


98.73% recovery

A total of 4,491 patients recovered from Covid in last 24 hours. The overall recovery is more than 4.24 crore, which is 98.73 per cent of the cases recorded till now.

The active caseload stands at 30,799, accounting for 0.07 per cent of overall case tally.


17.86 lakh vaccinated on Wednesday

More than 17.86 lakh individuals received the Covid-19 vaccine in 24 hours.

Over 3 lakh children aged 12-14 received the first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday, the first day of the vaccination drive for them.

So far, over 1.8 billion (180.8 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
