Covid-19: India records 2,528 new cases, 149 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: The country recorded 2,528 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday morning. As many as 149 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The overall death toll has reached 5,16,281.

The daily and weekly positivity rates were 0.4 per cent.

Around 6.33 lakh samples were tested for Covid in last 24 hours, taking the cumulative testing figure to over 78.18 crore.

 

98.73% recovery

A total of 3,997 patients recovered from Covid on Thursday. The overall recovery is more than 4.24 crore, or 98.73 per cent of the cases recorded till now.

The active caseload stands at 29,181, accounting for 0.07 per cent of the overall case tally.

 

15.77 lakh vaccinated on Thursday

Over 15.77 lakh individuals were vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country on Thursday. Of these, 5.39 lakh were kids aged between 12 and 14 years.

So far, more than 1.8 billion (180.97 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
