Covid-19: India reports 22,431 new cases, 318 deaths


New Delhi: The number of new cases of Covid-19 in India once again rose above the mark of 20,000. The country reported 22,431 fresh cases in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Thursday morning.As many as 318 patients succumbed to the infection during this period, taking the death toll to 4,49,856.

The active caseload, currently at 2,44,198, accounted for 0.72 per cent of the total cases reported so far and is the lowest in 204 days, according to the ministry.

The daily positivity rate is 1.57 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.68 per cent.


97.95% recovery

A total of 24,602 patients recovered from the infection in 24 hours, taking the overall recovery to 3,32,00,258. This is 97.95 per cent of the cases reported till now and is the highest since March 2020.



92.63 crore vaccine doses administered

Over 43 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in last 24 hours. Since the start of the nation-wide vaccination drive, more than 92.63 crore doses of the vaccine have been administered.

More than 57.86 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now, of which 14.31 lakh were conducted in last 24 hours.

PM Modi to dedicate 35 PSA Oxygen plants to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand on Thursday where he will dedicate 35 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants across various states and Union Territories to the nation. He will be dedicating the plants from AIIMS, Rishikesh, at 11 am.
