Covid-19: India reports 21,257 new cases, 271 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: India reported 21,257 fresh cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday morning. As many as 271 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 2,40,221, which is 0.71 per cent of the cases reported so far. It is also the lowest in 205 days, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate is 1.53 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.64 per cent.


97.96% recovery

A total of 24,963 patients recovered from the infection in 24 hours, taking the overall recovery to 3,32,25,221. This is 97.96 per cent of the total case tally.

Over 58 crore samples have been tested for Covid.


27% Indians fully vaccinated

More than 93.17 crore persons in India have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Of these, over 50.17 lakh were administered in last 24 hours.

As per government data, 71 per cent of the eligible adult population has received the first dose, while 27 per cent has received the second dose as well.


Over 12k cases in Kerala

Kerala, which has been reporting the maximum cases, recorded 12,288 fresh cases of the infection. Meanwhile, a four-member central team reviewed the Covid situation in Mizoram which crossed 1 lakh cases.
