Covid-19: India records 20,551 new cases, 70 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: The country recorded 20,551 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday morning. As many as 70 patients succumbed to the infection during this period, taking the overall death toll to 5,26,600.

The daily positivity rate is 5.14 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 4.64 per cent.

Around 4 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 in the country in last 24 hours, taking the overall testing figure to more than 87.71 crore.

 

98.50% recovery

A total of 21,595 patients recovered from Covid in the country on Thursday. With over 4.34 crore recoveries, the recovery rate stands at 98.50 per cent.

The active caseload is over 1.35 lakh, accounting for 0.31 per cent of the total case tally.

 

36.95 lakh vaccinated on Thursday

Over 36.95 lakh persons received the Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday. So far, over 2.05 billion (205.59 crore) doses have been administered, of which 10.09 crore are precaution doses.
