Covid-19: India reports 18,454 cases, 160 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country reported 18,454 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Thursday morning, according to the health ministry. As many as 160 patients succumbed to the infection in 24 hours.

The death toll has now reached 4,52,811.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country stands at 1,78,831, which is 0.52 per cent of the total cases.


98.15% recovery

A total of 17,561 patients recovered from Covid in last 24 hours. So far, more than 3.34 crore patients have recovered from the infection, which is 98.15 per cent of overall case tally.

Over 59.57 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now.


14 new cases in Gujarat

Gujarat reported 14 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection in 24 hours ending Wednesday evening. One patient died during this period, taking the death toll to 10,087. Over 2.96 lakh doses of the vaccine were administered during this period.


India crosses 1-billion mark in vaccination

The country reached yet another milestone in terms of vaccination, having administered over 1 billion doses. The milestone was crossed on Thursday morning.

Soon after, congratulatory messages began pouring in on social media. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted “Badhai ho, Bharat”.

In Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was seen sharing sweets with healthcare workers in Gandhinagar.
