Covid-19: India records 1,778 new cases, 62 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: The country recorded an increase in daily Covid-19 cases as well as related deaths. In last 24 hours, a total of 1,778 persons tested positive for the infection, the Union health ministry said on Wednesday morning.

As many as 62 deaths were recorded during this period.

The overall death tally stands as 5,16,605.

The daily positivity rate is 0.26 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.36 per cent.

Around 6.77 lakh samples were tested for Covid in last 24 hours, taking the cumulative testing figure to over 78.42 crore.

 

98.75% recovery

A total of 2,542 patients recovered from Covid-19 on Tuesday. The overall recovery is 4.24 crore, which is a recovery rate of 98.75 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 23,087 and accounts for 0.05 per cent of cases recorded till now.

 

30.53 lakh vaccinated on Tuesday

More than 30.53 lakh individuals received the Covid vaccine on Tuesday. So far, over 1.81 billion (181.89 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
