New Delhi: The daily cases of Covid-19 in India rose in last 24 hours compared to the previous day. There were 15,823 fresh cases, the health ministry said on Wednesday morning, higher than 14,313 in 24 hours ending Tuesday morning. As many as 226 patients lost their lives during this period.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 2,07,653, which accounts for 0.61 per cent of the total cases and is the lowest in 214 days.
The daily positivity rate is 1.19 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.46 per cent.
98.06% recovery
A total of 22,844 patients recovered from Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the overall recovery to 3,33,42,901. This is 98.06 per cent of the total cases.
More than 58.63 crore samples have been tested for Covid till now.
Over 96.43 crore jabs administered so far
More than 50.63 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered across the country on Tuesday. So far, over 96.43 crore doses have been given.
According to the government data, over 8.43 crore doses are unutilized and still available with states and Union Territories.
22 fresh cases in Gujarat
Gujarat recorded 22 new cases of infection on Tuesday. Nineteen patients recovered during the day.
Of the 22, 5 each were in Surat city and Valsad, 3 each in Ahmedabad city and Navsari, 2 in Kutch, 1 each in Gandhinagar rural, Kheda, Rajkot city and Vadodara city.
Covaxin recommended for emergency use for kids
An expert committee has recommended emergency approval for Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for vaccination of children in the age group of 12-17. Now, the final approval from Drugs Controller General of India.
