Covid-19: India reports 15,786 cases, 231 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country reported 15,786 fresh cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday morning. As many as 231 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country stands at 1,75,745, which is 0.51 per cent of the total cases. It is also the lowest in 232 days, according to the ministry.

The daily positivity rate is 1.19 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.31 per cent.

More than 59.70 crore samples have been tested till now.


98.16% recovery

A total of 18,641 patients recovered from Covid-19 in 24 hours. So far, over 3.35 crore patients have recovered from the infection, which is 98.16 per cent of the overall case tally.


Gujarat reports 13 new cases

Thirteen patients tested positive for Covid-19 in Gujarat in 24 hours ending Thursday evening. The state currently has 156 active cases.

A total of 33 patients recovered from the infection. The overall recovery is 98.76 per cent.


PM Modi urges nation to remain cautious as ‘war is on’

In his address to the nation on Friday, a day after the country achieved the milestone of having administered 1 billion vaccine doses, PM Narendra Modi urged people to exercise caution and not let their guard down yet. He remarked that weapons were not to be laid down until the war was over, indicating that the war against Covid-19 was not yet over.
