Covid-19: India reports 10,299 new cases, 125 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The number of new cases of Covid-19 and deaths due to the infection in the country dropped further. A total of 10,299 persons tested positive for it in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Monday morning. As many as 125 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

On Sunday morning, as many as 11,271 new cases and 285 deaths had been recorded.

The daily positivity rate is 1.12 per cent while the weekly positivity rate is 0.99 per cent.

The active caseload in the country is over 1.34 lakh, which is the lowest in 523 days, according to the ministry.


98.26% recovery

As many as 11,926 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The overall recovery has crossed 3.38 crore, which is 98.26 per cent of the total case tally.

More than 62.46 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the country till now. Of these, 9.15 lakh tests were carried out in last 24 hours.


30.2 lakh vaccinated

More than 30.2 lakh persons got the Covid-19 vaccine on Sunday. So far, more than 1.12 billion doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination programme.


26 new cases in Gujarat

As many as 26 persons tested positive for Covid in Gujarat in 24 hours ending Sunday evening. Ahmedabad city alone accounted for 11 of them. It was followed by Vadodara city with 6 cases. Valsad reported 4, Surat city 2 and Anand, Junagadh and Navsari 1 each.

As many as 22 patients recovered from the infection on Sunday. The recovery rate in the state stands at 98.75 per cent.
