New Delhi: India recorded a drop in number of cases, but witnessed a rise in deaths due to Covid-19. In the last 24 hours, the country reported 10,126 cases of infection, down from 11,451 the previous day, the health ministry said on Tuesday morning. As many as 332 patients succumbed to the infection, up from 226 the previous day.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is now 1,40,638, which is 0.41 per cent of the total cases. It is the lowest in 263 days.
The daily positivity rate is 0.93 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.25 per cent.
As many as 11,982 patients recovered from the infection in last 24 hours. The overall recovery is more than 3.37 crore, which is 98.25 per cent of the total cases.
Over 61.72 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the country so far, of which over 10.85 lakh were carried out on Monday.
59 lakh vaccinated in a day
More than 1.09 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country till now. Of these, over 59.08 lakh were administered in last 24 hours alone.
29 new cases in Gujarat
A total of 29 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Gujarat in 24 hours ending Monday evening. As many as 41 patients recovered from the infection during this period. The recovery rate is 98.75 per cent.
Over 3.92 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered across the state on Monday. So far, more than 7.19 crore doses have been administered in the state.
