The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Gujarat has increased to 73 after three new cases were reported in the past 12-hour. The three new cases include a 55-year-old man from Ahmedabad, a 32-year-old female from Gandhinagar, and a 28-year-old man from Rajkot.
With the addition of the fresh cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 23 in Ahmedabad, nine each in Surat and Vadodara, 10 in Rajkot, 11 in Gandhinagar, six in Bhavnagar, two in Gir-Somnath, and one each in Kutch, Mehsana, and Porbandar.
Out of the 73 cases, the condition of 60 patients is stable, five patients have been already discharged, and six have died. Two of the patients are on a ventilator.
Interestingly, of the 73 cases, 37 cases are of local transmission, whereas 32 cases are there in which a patient has a travel history outside India. This apart, four cases are there in which the patient has a history of inter-state travel. Notably, cases of local transmission are a major cause of concern for the authorities as it becomes difficult for them to trace the various people the patient had recently met.
As far as people under quarantine are concerned, 19,026 patients are under quarantine.
Amid all the negative developments in the state, a positive development is that five coronavirus positive patients in the state have been discharged after they tested negative for the virus twice in 24 hours.
