Gandhinagar: The number of Covid-19 cases may not be as high as during the days after Diwali last year, but it is definitely higher compared to past several days. Gujarat recorded 40 fresh cases of infection in 24 hours ending Thursday evening, a day after 42 patients tested positive. No death was reported during this period.
Prior to that, case remained below 30 for several days.
The active caseload of Covid-19 cases in the state has reached 234. The death toll stands at 10,090.
14 cases in Ahmedabad
The maximum cases districtwise during the day, 14, were recorded in Ahmedabad city. Vadodara city reported 6, Surat city 4 and Rajkot city 3. Thus, the four municipal corporation areas together accounted 27 out of 40 cases.
Surat rural reported 3, Junagadh and Valsad 2 each and Amreli, Gir Somnath, Kheda, Morbi, Navsari and Surendranagar 1 each.
21 patients recover
Twenty-one patients recovered from Covid-19 in 24 hours. So far, over 8.16 lakh patients have recovered from the infection, which is 98.75 per cent of the cases recorded till now.
4.57 lakh vaccinated on Thursday
More than 4.57 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered across the state during the day. So far, over 7.33 crore doses have been administered.
