Ahmedabad: Gujarat once again witnessed an increase in Covid-19 cases a day after drop in daily cases. As many as 23,150 persons tested positive for the infection in 24 hours ending Saturday evening, the health department said in its bulletin.
On Friday, there were 21,225 cases, lower than Thursday’s tally when the state had recorded its highest single-day jump of 24,485 cases.
A total of 15 patients succumbed to Covid-19 in Gujarat on Saturday, taking the death toll to 10,230.
8,194 cases, 5 deaths in Ahmedabad city
Ahmedabad city recorded 8,194 cases, followed by Vadodara city with 2,823 cases, Surat city 1,876 and Rajkot city 1,707 cases.
Vadodara rural recorded 886 cases, Surat rural 612, Anand 565, Jamnagar city 563, Gandhinagar city 547, Kutch 462, Bharuch 448 and Bhavnagar rural 401.
Morbi recorded 373 cases, Valsad 359, Gandhinagar rural 327 and Rajkot rural 322.
Banaskantha recorded 252 cases, Navsari 240, Mehsana 238, Patan 236 and Amreli 213.
The remaining places had less than 200 cases.
5 of 15 deaths in Ahmedabad
Of the 15 deaths recorded during the day, 5 were in Ahmedabad city, 3 each in Bhavnagar city and Surat rural and 1 each in Surat and Rajkot cities, Navsari and Ahmedabad rural.
A total of 10,103 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Gujarat in last 24 hours. The recovery rate currently is 86.6 per cent.
The active caseload is more than 1.29 lakh, of which 244 patients are on ventilator.
1.88 lakh vaccinated on Saturday
A total of 1,88,588 individuals received the Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday. So far, more than 9.62 crore doses of the vaccine have been administered in Gujarat.
