- Gujarat reports 21 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday; two test positive in Ahmedabad city
Ahmedabad: After two days of recording relatively high number of Covid-19 cases, Gujarat witnessed a sharp drop. In 24 hours ending Friday evening, a total of 21 persons tested positive for the infection. No death was reported during this period.
Ahmedabad city had reported 30 cases in two days, forcing the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to swing into action and declare an entire block of a society in Isanpur as micro-containment area.
On Friday, though the city recorded just two cases, the administration declared one more area, this time in the west zone, as micro-containment. As many as 20 houses of block C of Sampad Residency in Chandkheda were put under containment.
Thus, the city now has two micro-containment areas.
Vadodara city reports maximum cases
Six persons tested positive in Vadodara city in last 24 hours, which is the highest in the state. Surat city and Valsad reported 3 cases each, Ahmedabad city, Jamnagar city and Rajkot city reported 2 cases each, while Junagadh rural, Kutch and Surendranagar reported 1 case each.
35 patients recover
As many as 35 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. So far, more than 8.16 lakh have recovered from the infection. This is 98.75 per cent of the total cases.
Over 4.22 lakh vaccinated in a day
More than 7.37 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Gujarat till now. Of these, 4.22 lakh received the jab on Friday.
