India is reporting continuous downtrend in daily Covid-19 cases. This provides a huge relief to the people of country. India has reported 1,839 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, while the number of active cases have come down to 25,178 from 27,212 the day before, according to Union health ministry data. The death toll has climbed to 5,31,692 with 11 fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The Covid-19 tally now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,71,469). Meanwhile, the number of active cases at 25,178, comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.76 per cent, the ministry said.
Gujarat logs 31 new Covid-19 cases
Gujarat recorded 31 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. Whereas, 107 patients have recovered from the infection. Ahmedabad 8 cases while Baroda and Surat each 6 and Valsad reported 5 cases. Currently, there are total 496 active cases in the state, out of which 3 patients are being treated on ventilator.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
It may be noted here that earlier the total cases of infection in India crossed 50 lakh mark on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh mark on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh mark on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh mark on 20 November, 2020. On 19 December 2020, Covid-19 cases crossed one crore mark in the country. On 4 May 2021 the number of infected crossed two crore mark and on 23 June 2021 it crossed three crore mark. In January last year, the total number of infection cases crossed four crore mark.
