COVID-19: Ahmedabad reports 25 deaths, 292 cases in 24-hours; Gujarat’s case tally at 9,268


Gujarat has reported 364 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24-hours ending at 5 pm on Wednesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the state’s coronavirus case tally to 9,268.

The state also reported 29 fresh deaths that pushed the state’s death toll due to COVID-19 to 566. Out of the 29 deaths, 25 deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, three deaths have been reported from Surat, and one death has been reported from Patan.

Out of the 364 new cases, 292 cases are of Ahmedabad alone, whereas Surat reported 23 cases and Vadodara reported 18 fresh cases. Mehsana reported eight fresh cases, followed by Devbhoomi Dwarka that reported seven cases. Bhavnagar and Jamnagar reported three cases each, whereas Patan reported two cases. The districts of Panchmahals, Banaskantha, Gir-Somnath, Kheda, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Junagarh, and Amreli have reported one case each.

With the addition of the 292 fresh cases till 5 pm on Wednesday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 6,645—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported 446 deaths—the highest in the state.

Apart from the 6,645 COVID-19 cases reported from Ahmedabad so far, Surat has reported 967 cases, followed by Vadodara with 592 cases, Gandhinagar with 142 cases, Bhavnagar with 100 cases, Banaskantha with 82 cases, Anand with 80 cases, and Aravalli with 76 cases. Mehsana has reported 67 cases, whereas Rajkot and Panchmahals have each reported 66 cases.

Botad has reported 56 cases so far, followed by Mahisagar with 47 cases, Kheda and Jamnagar with 33 cases each, Bharuch with 32 cases, Patan with 31 cases, and Sabarkantha with 29 cases. Dahod has reported 20 cases, followed by Chhota Udepur with 17 cases and Kutch with 14 cases. Narmada has reported 13 cases whereas Devbhoomi Dwarka has reported 12 cases.

The districts of Morbi, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Surendranagar, Junagarh, and Amreli have each reported less than 10 cases, with Amreli reporting its first case on Wednesday.

According to the Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department, out of the total cases, 39 people are in a critical state and put on ventilator support, 5,101 people are stable, 3,562 people have been discharged, and 566 have died.

As far as deaths are concerned, apart from the 446 deaths reported in Ahmedabad, 43 deaths have been reported from Surat and 32 deaths have been reported from Vadodara. Bhavnagar and Anand are trailing Vadodara with seven deaths each. Gandhinagar has reported five deaths so far, followed by four deaths in Panchmahals and three deaths in Banaskantha. The districts of Rajkot, Bharuch, Patan, and Mehsana have each reported two deaths, whereas one death each has been reported from Kutch, Botad, Kheda, Mahisagar, and Valsad.

So far, 2.08 lakh people have been placed under quarantine.
