2.58 lakh Covid-19 cases, 385 deaths in India in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country recorded 2,58,089 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Monday morning. A total of 385 deaths were recorded during this period.

The overall death toll in the country till now has reached 4,86,451.

The daily positivity rate rose to 19.65 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate has reached 14.41 per cent.

So far, over 70.37 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the country, of which 13.13 lakh were tested on Sunday.


94.27% recovery

Over 1.51 lakh patients recovered from Covid-19 in India in last 24 hours. The overall recovery has crossed 3.52 crore. This is 94.27 per cent of the overall cases.

The active caseload of Covid has crossed 16.56 lakh.


India’s Omicron tally at 8,209

India has so far recorded 8,209 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus till now, up from 7,743 the previous day.

Maharashtra leads the tally with 1,738 cases, West Bengal 1,672, Rajasthan 1,276, Delhi 549, Karnataka 548, Kerala 536, Uttar Pradesh 275, Telangana 260, Tamil Nadu 241. Gujarat is at the 10th place wiht 236 cases, followed by Odisha with 201. The remaining states have less than 200 cases.


39.46 lakh vaccinated in 24 hours

More than 39.46 lakh individuals were vaccinated on Sunday.

So far, more than 1.57 billion (157.2 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
