Gujarat has reported 256 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24-hours ending at 5 pm on Saturday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the state’s coronavirus case tally to 3,071.
After 15 deaths were reported from Gujarat on Friday, six fresh deaths were again reported on Saturday that pushed the state’s death toll due to COVID-19 to 133. Out of the six deaths in the state, three deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad and one death each has been reported from Surat, Anand, and Vadodara.
Out of the 256 new cases, 182 cases are of Ahmedabad alone, whereas Surat reported 34 cases, Banaskantha reported 11 cases, and Vadodara reported seven fresh cases. Anand and Bhavnagar have each reported five cases, whereas Gandhinagar reported four cases. Chhota Udepur and Panchmahals have each reported two cases. The districts of Mahisagar, Navsari, and Patan have reported one case each.
With the addition of the 182 fresh cases till 5 pm on Saturday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 2,003—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported the maximum number of deaths in the state. After 14 deaths were reported on Friday, three deaths were again reported on Saturday that pushed the death toll due to the deadly virus to 86 in Ahmedabad.
Apart from the 2,003 COVID-19 cases reported from Ahmedabad so far, Surat has reported 496 cases, followed by Vadodara with 230 cases, and Rajkot and Anand have each reported 41 cases. Bhavnagar reported 40 cases and Bharuch has reported 29 cases, whereas the capital city of Gandhinagar reported 23 cases. Banaskantha has reported 27 cases, followed by Panchmahals with 17 cases and Patan with 16 cases.
Similarly, Aravalli has reported 18 cases and Chhota Udepur reported 13 cases, whereas Narmada and Botad each reported 12 cases. Mahisagar reported 10 cases. Mehsana has reported seven cases, whereas Kutch reported six cases. Kheda and Valsad have each reported five cases, whereas Dahod reported four cases. Porbandar, Gir Somnath, and Sabarkantha have reported three cases each. The districts of Jamnagar, Tapi, Dang, Surendranagar, and Morbi have reported a case each.
According to the Health Department, out of the total cases, 30 people are in a critical state and put on ventilator support, 2,626 people are stable, 282 people have been discharged, and 133 have died. Information made available by the department also provides that 3,004 cases out of the total 3,071 are incidents of local transmission, 33 people have a history of international travel, and 34 have a history of inter-state travel.
As far as deaths are concerned, apart from the 86 deaths reported in Ahmedabad, 15 deaths have been reported from Surat and 12 deaths have been reported from Vadodara. Bhavnagar is trailing Vadodara with five deaths. Anand has reported three deaths. Gandhinagar, Bharuch, and Panchmahals have each reported two deaths, and one death each has been reported from Jamnagar, Botad, Kutch, Aravalli, Valsad, and Patan. Out of the 133 deaths, three had a history of international travel, three had a history of inter-state travel, and the rest 127 cases were incidents of local transmission.
So far, 36,730 people have been placed under quarantine.
