Rajkot: The Rajkot police have nabbed five people including a woman and two Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawans who operated a honeytrap to extort money from customers.
The woman’s husband ran a spa and they used the database of the same to extort money. The GRD jawans would act as cops who’ appeared as the immoral activity was going on.
Police said the woman lured a trader to her house saying she was alone and once he came she gathered some people and threatened to file a complaint against the trader. She agreed to let him go after he paid Rs22,500.
The mastermind of the honey trap
Police said the mastermind behind the gang is one Ashish Marvadi, who runs a spa. He used his wife and three others to trap one of his customer, who runs a snack business. The trader had known Ashish’s wife Alpa for the last four years although they were not in touch for the last four months.
Alpa all of a sudden called the trader and told her that she was alone and that they should meet at her house. The trader, keen on meeting Alpa, visited her house in the evening.
They were in the room when Alpa’s husband and three other men arrived and Alpa complained of the trader harassing her. The other men who were with her husband identified themselves as a cop and threatened to file a case against him.
They then agreed to let go of the matter when the trader paid them over Rs22,000.
