One more MLA of Congress in Gujarat has tested positive for COVID-19 in the state. Jamjodhpur MLA Chirag Kalariya tested positive on Thursday. He had earlier complained of fever after he returned from Gandhinagar where he had gone for the Rajya Sabha elections. He was later admitted to a hospital in Rajkot.
Earlier on Wednesday, former Congress Ahmedabad city president Chetan Raval and another leader Maulin Vaishnav tested positive for COVID-19. This came days after the Rajya Sabha elections when Congress candidate Bharatsinh Solanki had tested positive for the disease.
Solanki, who is undergoing treatment at Banker Hospital in Vadodara, had interacted with several Congress leaders during the Rajya Sabha polls. He got himself tested for the disease after he began to feel unwell.
On Tuesday Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Gujarat S Murali Krishna was put under quarantine after the official came in touch with Solanki Several other officials involved in the Rajya Sabha polls were also asked to go in quarantine for the same reason. Congress MLA Himmatsinh Patel has also been put under quarantine for the same reason.
