- Congress announces 7 pre-poll pledges as part of its Pratigya Yatra in Uttar Pradesh
Barabanki: The Congress is bracing up for Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh next year. On Saturday, Congress general secretary flagged off the pary’s ‘Pratigya Yatra’ from Barabanki which will culminate at Bundelkhand. Two other such yatras will be taken out from Saharanpur to Mathura and Varanasi to Rae Bareli. They will culminate on November 1.
As part of this Pratigya Yatra, the Congress has announced seven pre-poll pledges.
The first pledge is of giving 40 per cent tickets to women in the Assembly elections.
The tweet in Hindi from the official handle of Congress reads, “Our pledges will bring a change, give rights to women.”
The second pledge is of distributing smart phones among girls who clear intermediate school (10+2) and electronic two-wheelers for graduate girls.
The third pledge by Congress is that it will waive off the entire debt of Uttar Pradesh farmers if voted to power. This, it said, would relieve farmers of their worries and ensure their progress.
Among other pledges taken under the Pratigya Yatra are are lucrative rates for grains and sugarcane, halving of electricity bill for all, total waiver of pending power bills during Covid period, Rs 25,000 for poor families per year and 20,000 government jobs.
