Delhi: After churning for four consecutive days the Congress high command has taken a decision regarding the Chief Minister in Karnataka. Siddaramaiah will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar will take oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, announcing the decision officially, said after marathon discussion with leaders and contenders for CM post Congress has decided that Siddaramaiah will be the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Whereas, D K Shivakumar will be the only single Deputy CM of Karnataka.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Shivakumar will remain on the post of PCC President till Lok Sabha elections. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on May 20 in Bengaluru, where along with Chief Minister and Dy. Chief Minister, a group of ministers will take oath.
President Mallikarjun Kharge has reached a consensus on government formation in Karnataka. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on May 20 in Bengaluru.
Besides, he said that the Congress president decided that Siddaramaiah ji should be made the Chief Minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar should be made the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka. Our first priority is to implement our 5 guarantees which we will decide on in our first cabinet meeting. We will invite like-minded parties to the swearing-in ceremony.
According to ANI report, Karnataka Congress has extended invitations to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, NC chief Farooq Abdullah and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik have also been invited.
At the same time, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted, “Team Congress is committed to the progress, welfare and social justice of the people of Karnataka. We will implement the 5 guarantees promised to 6.5 crore Kannadigas.”
On being nominated as Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Congress leader DK Shivakumar, while talking to the media, said that everything is fine in the party and everything will be fine in the future also. I had earlier said that whatever the party high command decides, we will accept it. Whatever formula is made, we all accept it.
