Comedian Bharti Singh’s husband also arrested in drugs case


After comedian Bharti Singh’s arrest on Saturday, her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday for allegedly possessing and consuming marijuana. Haarsh Limbachiyaa was arrested after being questioned for nearly 15 hours by the NCB.

Notably, the couple’s home was searched on Saturday by the anti-drugs agency. NCB officials claimed that 86.5 grams cannabis was found in their Andheri home after which they were taken to the NCB’s Mumbai office for further questioning.

NCB had said that both Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa accepted consuming ganja and both have been arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1986.

Although the quantity of drugs seized from the couple’s home does not fall under the commercial category, it still invites an imprisonment up to 10 years, NCB officials said.

Judicial custody till Dec 4

Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa were produced at the Quilla court on Sunday afternoon. The court sent them to judicial custody till December 4. While Bharti Singh has been taken to Kalyan jail, Haarsh Limbachiyaa has been sent to Taloja prison.

NCB also probing Arjun Rampal in drugs case

Earlier in November, the NCB had searched the home of Arjun Rampal. Later Rampal and his girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades, were summoned for questioning. The latter was questioned for over two days while Rampal’s questioning lasted six hours.

Rampal later told the media that the substance recovered by the NCB at his house was part of prescriptions and that he had handed the same to the agency.

Paul Bartel, an Australian architect was also arrested by NCB in connection with the drug probe. NCB had said Bartel was an alleged supplier of the drug. His name had emerged after the agency questioned Agisialos Demetriades – a South African national, who is also the brother of Rampal’s girlfriend. Agisilaos is in the custody of the NCB.

Bartel was granted bail on Thursday by a special court which said there was no substantial material to prove wrongdoing on his part.

Probe started I connection with Sushant Singh Rajput death case

After the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB started probing the drugs angle in the death case. Since then many Bollywood celebrities have come under the scanner followed by their arrest. The NCB has also arrested several peddlers who used to supply drugs to these celebrities.
