The move is aimed at ensuring that precious academic year is not lost due to the COVID-19 and the resultant lockdown. It has directed government, non -government and grant-in-aid as well as technical colleges to begin online classes through a single platform. It has said that offline classes will begin only after COVID-19 is brought under control in the state.

The department has hence thrown open the Unlimited Digital Advance Yearlong Method of Learning (UDAYAM). Under the project professors will have to ensure that at least 25% of the syllabus is completed through online means. The government will also make available the platform FCG to various colleges for the same. It should be noted that the government had given mass promotion and had recently scrapped its decision to conduct final year exams for almost all courses due to the rising COVID-19 situation in the state.
