An employee of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Gujarat has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the second time in 25 days that an employee of CMO has tested positive.
Earlier COVID-19 tests were carried out for employees in Sachivalay and Vidhansabha. On Monday, the employees of the CMO as well those working in various officers of the ministers were tested for COVID-19.
It was in this drive that the employee of CMO in Swarnim Sankul building tested positive sending the administration in a tizzy.
How many employees were tested?
In all 142 employees were tested in the building by the afternoon of which one employee of the CMO tested positive. Earlier several employees of the Sachivalaya during the COVID-19 tests were positive.
The tests were also carried out in the Assembly as well as for all employees of the Assembly before the session is to begin. One employee of the Assembly had tested positive during the drive. Earlier on August 11, an employee of the CMO had tested positive.
The employee was hired by an agency and he had not been coming to the office for almost a week before he tested positive. Earlier in July, a clerk in the office of road and buildings minister Jaydratsinh Parmar in Swarnim Sankul 2 had also tested positive following which all the staff members of Parmar’s office were put under quarantine.
COVID-19 cases in Gujarat
Gujarat on Monday recorded 1,330 new COVID-19 cases and 15 fatalities due to the disease in the last 24 hours. The state in all tested 72,690 samples. Of the total deaths, three were recorded in Ahmedabad.
The city also recorded 149 new cases. The highest number of cases were recorded in Surat city which had 175 new cases in the last 24 hours.
