After testing negative for COVID-19, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani reached Rajkot to exercise his voting right in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation election. The CM exercised his franchise in a polling booth in Anil Gyan Mandir in Jivannagar Society 1 in his hometown Rajkot.
After voting in Rajkot, he said that he is thankful to everyone who prayed for his well-being. He said that he has tested negative for COVID-19 and is now free from the viral infection. He said that Gujarat is successfully fighting the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
CM Rupani also said that his government has equipped state-run hospitals to tackle COVID-19 cases. He said that patients infected with COVID-19 can avail treatment in government hospitals, adding that he too had availed treatment for COVID-19 in a government hospital.
He also said that BJP is synonymous with development not just in the state, but throughout the country. Rupani said that Congress will continue to face defeat in civic body elections.
From Rajkot, the CM left for Gandhinagar where he will be under home quarantine for a few days.
Vijay Rupani tests positive for COVID-19
Notably, CM Rupani had fainted on stage while addressing a rally in Vadodara on February 14 after which he was flown to Ahmedabad and admitted to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre. The hospital had then said that all his vital parameters were stable, but he had tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, Rupani was availing treatment at the hospital.
Local body elections in Gujarat
The local body elections in Gujarat are scheduled in two phases. In the first phase on February 21, elections were held for municipal corporations. The results for the elections will be declared on February 23.
In the second phase on February 28, elections will be organised for municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats. The results for the second phase will be declared on March 2.
