CM Rupani promises law against ‘love jihad’ in Gujarat during poll rally

After BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh enacted laws to curb ‘love jihad’, the Gujarat government too is contemplating to toe the line and bring a similar law.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, while addressing a poll rally in Vadodara, said that the government will table a strict law against love jihad in the next Assembly session.

He said after bringing the Gujarat Control of Organised Crime Act and the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, the government now intends to bring a strict law against love jihad. CM Rupani said that the BJP government wants to make Gujarat better with each passing day.

Interestingly, Gujarat is planning to introduce law against love jihad when it already has an anti-conversion law that prohibits conversion from one religion to another by the use of force or allurement or by fraudulent means.

Congress a hindrance in Gujarat’s development: CM Rupani

At the beginning of the public meeting, CM Rupani said that local body elections are being fought on the issue of development.  He said the UPA government at the Center had done injustice to Gujarat for years.

The height of the gate of Sardar Sarovar Dam was not allowed to be raised for 60 years. But, after becoming the prime minister, Narendra Modi paved the way for development by giving approval in only 17 days, he said.

Earlier, Gujarat Chief Ministers had to stay in Delhi. Now you do not have to go to Delhi for approval of development works, he added. He alleged that the Congress has always been a hindrance in the development of Gujarat.
