Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi is set to retire on November 17. However, today is practically the last day of his work. Ranjan Gogoi tenure as Chief Justice was about 13 and a half months. During this time, they made a total of 47 verdicts, including some of the historical verdicts.

Justive Ranjan Gogoi was appointed as the chief justice of India on 3rd October 2018. two days before chief justice Gogoi is set to retire, he sat with the chief justice designate S A Bobde in court number 1 and issued notices.

Historical decisions that will be remembered for Gogoi

Ayodhya case: A 5-member bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi of the SC has ruled in this case. In Ayodhya case, the SC ruled in favor of Ramlala. The apex court has ordered to give the disputed land of Ayodhya to Ramlala and to give 5 acres of land in Ayodhya separately to the Muslim Party. The court also directed the central government to set up a trust for the construction of the Ram temple.

Chief Justice’s Office Public Authority: A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has ruled out the Chief Justice’s office about the RTI. In this, the court said that the office of the Chief Justice is also a public authority. Therefore, information can be sought from the office of the Chief Justice under RTI. Earlier, information related to the office of the Chief Justice could not be obtained under RTI.

Sabarimala case: Constitution bench of the five justices, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi of SC, announced reconsideration petition filed against the entry of women into Sabarimala temple. At the same time, the case was referred to a 7-member bench of the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also said that women will continue to enter the famous Sabarimala temple in Kerala as the court has stated in its decision in 2018.

Restrictions on pictures of leaders in government advertisement: Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Ghosh bench had banned the posting of leaders in government advertisements. Since the SC verdict, there has been a ban on publishing a picture on government advertisement of any leader other than the President, PM, Chief Justice, the Union Minister of the concerned department, Governor, CM and the Minister of the concerned department.

Senior advocate Jitendra Mohan Sharma of SC says that the decision to publish the picture of the leaders on the government advertisement was also told by the back of Ranjan Gogoi, which is very important from a political point of view.

Judgment in 7 languages ​​including English and Hindi: Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has decided to publish SC rulings in 7 languages ​​including English and Hindi. Until this, SC decisions were published in English only. Now the SC verdict will come in 7 languages ​​including English and Hindi. At that time the parties in a case could not understand the English language and demanded that they be provided with a copy of the verdict in the language they speak and read.
