The state is likely to come up with a guideline on what relaxations to be given and how to implement the same during lockdown 4.0. Those in the know said that AMTS bus services may be resumed in certain areas of Ahmedabad and the transport body was already making arrangements for the same as and when the nod comes. A meeting of district collectors and commissioners will take place to decide the course of the action on norms and relaxations for lockdown 4.0 in Gujarat

Ahmedabad is one of the most severely affected Covid19 cities in the country, next only to Mumbai. It has over 8,000 Covid19 cases and has 10 containment zones in the city.

Sources in the know said that the civic body run transport service is likely to start functioning only in non-containment zones. Close to 250 to 300 buses are expected to ply in non-containment zones. It is believed that only a very limited number of buses will offer service during the initial days and they may be increased later. All social distancing guidelines will be followed and the buses will ferry passengers lower than its actual capacity to ensure that social distancing is maintained.
