Chandrashekhar Bawankule named new Maharashtra BJP chief

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named Chandrashekhar Bawankule at the president of its Maharashtra unit. He succeeds Chandrakant Patil, who has been made a minister in the newly formed Eknath Shinde govenrment.

Alongside, Ashish Shelar has been named the Mumbai city BJP chief.

Chandrashekhar Bawankule, currently a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, was earlier the minister of Energy in the Devendra Fadnavis government between 2014 and 2019.

He has represented Kamthi constituency as MLA from 2004 to 2019.
