A Central health team led by Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Friday, visited several containment zones in Ahmedabad and also held a discussion with civic body officials on the COVID-19 spread in the city. Media reports said the Central officers were unhappy with the civic body officials as several officials gave different answers for the same questions. Agarwal reportedly asked the civic officials to ensure that a consolidated data about COVID-19 in the city be given to them.
He also reprotedely had several questions regarding the containment zones in the city. Some of the containment zones that the central team visited included Satellite Tower near Mansi Circle. The team also had several queries about the Dhanvatri Rath including whether such raths were stationed in containment zones and whether testing happened in the raths.
It should be noted that since Unlock 1.0 began, India has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases. The Centre has sent a team to Maharashtra, Telangana and Gujarat to know about the COVID-19 situation. All of these states have reported a surge in COVID-19 cases.
The team also visited Vasantnagar in Gota. The team was accompanied by Health Commissioner JP Shivahare. The Central team also had a meeting with the health commissioner, municipal commissioner of Ahmedabad and other top officials in the city to know of the COVID-19 situation in the city and state and their response to it. It is believed that the team may also visit some of the COVID-19 hospitals in the state and als have a discussion with the chief minister and deputy chief minister in the evening.
