Apprehending possible threats emanating from the country and abroad Central government has accorded ‘Z-plus security cover to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. According to the information, 49-year-old Mann will be secured by the VIP protection squad of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Such a security cover for Mann was recommended by the central intelligence and security agencies during the preparation of a ‘threat perception analysis’ report of the chief minister in the wake of Khalistani activities in the border state. The top-category ‘Z-plus cover will be provided to Mann all across India and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently accorded the sanction for this, the official sources said. They added that the CRPF will soon take over the task and a team of 55 armed personnel has been earmarked for it. The team will include more than 10 NSG commandos.
The sources said, ” The latest security cover, apart from the Punjab Police protection, will secure the chief minister’s house and immediate family members too.”
It may be recalled that Amrit pal Singh, who is demanding Khalistan in Punjab, has been arrested recently. Amrit pal Singh had become a headache for the Punjab Police. CM Maan’s security will be further strengthened with Z Plus security, which will also affect his road-shows, public meetings and meetings. Special emphasis will now be placed on screening and physical search at CM Mann’s residences, offices, state visits. The concerned authorities of the state will inform the CRPF about the program of the Chief Minister’s visit and the detailed outline of the security arrangements to be made for it.
