- 8.19 lakh have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state so far; death toll reaches 9,985
Gandhinagar: Gujarat reported 481 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection in 24 hours ending Friday evening, the state health department said in its daily bulletin. Nine patients succumbed to the infection during this period.
Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 8,19,381 persons in the state have tested positive for the infection, while 9,985 patients have lost their life to it.
On Friday, the recovery rate reached 97.36 per cent. As many as 1,525 infected persons recovered during the day. With this, a total of 7,97,734 persons have recovered from Covid-19 so far.
72 new cases in Ahmedabad
Of the new cases, Ahmedabad reported 72 cases, Vadodara 88, Surat 85 and Rajkot 34.
Junagadh reported 29 cases, of which 9 were in the city and 20 in rural parts. Jamnagar reported 19 cases, with 15 in the city and 4 in rural areas. Gir Somnath reported 15, Gandhinagar, Amreli and Bharuch 12 each, Anand 11, Mahisagar and Navsari 1o each, Kheda, Porbandar 9, Valsad 8, Devbhumi Dwarka and Kutch 7 each, Panchmahals and Sabarkantha 6 each, Mehsana 5, Banaskantha 4, Bhavnagar 3, Morbi 2, Dangs and Surendranagar 1 each. Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Patan and Tapi did not report a single new case in 24 hours.
Of the nine deaths on Friday, two were in Ahmedabad and one each in Surat, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha Bhavnagar Tapi, Navsari, Mahisagar.
11,657 active cases of Covid-19 in Gujarat
As per the health department, there were 11,657 active cases in the state as on Friday. Of these, 296 were on ventilator, while the condition of 11,361 was said to be stable.
2.86 lakh more get the jab
The health department shared that 2.86 lakh people had got vaccinated on Friday till 5 pm. With this, the total number of vaccinations in the state reached 1,97,35,809 (1.97 crore).
