New Delhi: Seven persons were killed and two injured when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a vehicle on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura’s Naujheel area on Saturday morning.
According to police, the victims were on their way from Hardoi to Noida to attend a wedding. The mishap took place near milestone 68 on Yamuna Expressway at around 4 am on Saturday when their car was hit by the unidentified vehicle.
Three men, three women and a 6-year-old child died on the spot. Two others were injured, and were rushed to the hospital.
Further investigation is underway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the deaths.
Expressing grief, Modi tweeted, “The accident in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who lost their loves ones in the accident. I wish speedy recovery to the injured.”
