New Delhi: The process to repeal the three farm laws has begun. According to sources, the Union Cabinet has cleared the bill to withdraw the laws.
The farm laws triggered widespread protests since the time they were introduced. After over a year of protests,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had, in his address to the nation last year announced that the government would repeal the three farm laws. At that time, he had apologized to the country and said he had been unable to convince the protesting section about the benefits of these laws.
He had said that the process to repeal them would happen by the month-end.
“We will complete the process of repealing the three laws in the Parliament session starting at the end of this month,” he had said. The Winter Session begins on November 29.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers would not end their protest until the laws were withdrawn formally.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had commented that people who had suffered false rhetoric in the past were not ready to believe the PM on his assurance of repealing the farm laws.
