Mumbai: Two accused in the infamous Bulli Bai app case – Shweta Singh and Mayank Rawal – were sent to two-week judicial custody after their police custody ended.

Both of them were arrested separately from Uttarakhand by the Mumbai police.

Another accused, Vishal Kumar Jha, was arrested from Uttarakhand. Shweta and Vishal were understood to know each other as they were friends on a social media platform

Mumbai police said that while Shweta was produced before the court, Mayank could not be as he had tested positive for Covid.

Shweta and Mayank have filed a bail plea in the Bandra court. The plea will come up for hearing on January 17, said Mayank’s lawyer Sandeep Sherkhane.

The Bulli Bai case surfaced on January 1, with several Muslim women “auctioned” on the site. These women were prominent activists, lawyers, journalists, etc.
