With the local body elections in Gujarat coming to an end on Sunday, the budget session of the Assembly began on Monday. During the 24-day-long budget session, many important bills will be introduced including on love jihad.
The budget session is likely to be a noisy affair with the Opposition targeting the government on the contentious farm laws. The session will begin with the address of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat. On Monday, tributes will be paid to former chief ministers of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel and Madhavsinh Solanki. This apart, the Governor’s motion of thanks will be discussed for 3 days.
Nitin Patel to present budget on March 3
The results of the local body elections in the state will be announced tomorrow, after which Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Nitin Patel will present the budget on March 3.
Nitin Patel is about to register a new record by presenting the budget in the Vidhan Sabha for the ninth time. In this budget session, 12 days have been allocated for discussion. Not only this, but the CAG report will also be presented during this budget session.
The entry of visitors to the Assembly has been banned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the ministers, legislators, officials and journalists who will take part in the budget session will have to undergo the test for COVID-19.
Only those people will be given entry who will test negative for COVID-19. Not only this, the seating arrangement has also been changed in the state Assembly to ensure compliance with the physical distancing rule.
