BTP won just 1 of 24 contested seats in Narmada District Panchayat


The Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) which got into an alliance with Assaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM for Gujarat civic polls has won just 1 seat of the 24 contested in Narmada District Panchayat.

BTP had contested on 82 seats of Narmada Taluka Panchayat of which the party won just 4 seats. BTP won 2 seats from Dediapada, whereas the other two were from Sagbara Taluka Panchayat in the district. BTP’s candidate from Navagam – Shantakulben Vasava won the only seat in the Narmada district panchayat elections.

In Narmada Taluka Panchayat, a candidate from Singloti falling under Dediapada has won the election, whereas Amarsinh Vasava from Navagam (Dedi) seat has been declared as the winner.

AIMIM-BTP tie up 

Two other candidates of BTP won the seats from Sagbara taluka panchayat. Assaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM party has performed significantly by winning 16 seats of the total 20 seats on which it contested in Modasa and Godhra Nagar Palika.

According to details, AIMIM won 7 seats of 8 contested seats in Godhra nagarpalika. Apart from this, it has also won 9 seats out of 12 contested in Modasa nagarpalika. The AIMIM has now emerged as the Opposition in the Modasa nagarpalika dislodging the Congress.

The AIMIM had in all contested 21 seats from different wards of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Of this, AIMIM lost in Behrampura, Khadiya, Gomtipur, and Dariyapur and won seven seats from two wards of Jamalpur and Maktampura ward.

The AIMIM had also put up 20 more candidates for the taluka and district panchayat elections in Modasa and Godhra Nagarpalika. Both Godhra and Modasa have a large number of minority-dominated localities.
