BTP asks its MLAs in Rajasthan to abstain from voting

The Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), which has two MLAs in Rajasthan, has issued a whip to its legislators asking them to abstain from voting in case a show of strength is needed for the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan. The Gehlot government may need a floor test as Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has rebelled against the party.

Media reports said the whip for BTP MLAs in Rajasthan was issued by National President and Gujarat MLA Mahesh Vasava. Ramprasad Dindor of Sagwada and Rajkumar Rot of Chaurasia are the two MLAs representing BTP in Rajasthan.

Media reports said the letter written to the MLAs in Hindi said that the MLAs are not to vote for the Congress or the BJP. It also said they are neither to vote for Gehlot or Pilot either. It also threatened disciplinary action against MLAs if they ignored the whip.

It should be noted that the party had backed the Congress in Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha elections. It had abstained from voting in the same elections in Gujarat.
