The person who threw a chappal on Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel is believed to be a BJP worker. According to sources, police have detained a youth Rashmin for allegedly throwing a chappal at Patel and the youth is a member of the BJP itself.
He was the working committee chairman of Shinor Taluka Panchayat and his wife was the sarpanch of Shinor from 2011 to 2013.
A chappal was thrown at deputy chief minister Nitin Patel who had gone for campaigning in Karjan assembly seat near Vadodara on Monday.
Karjan is among the eight seats in Gujarat where bypolls will be held on November 3.
What Nitin Patel had said about the incident?
Speaking about the incident, Patel had at that time said that earlier too such incidents had happened with BJP candidate JV Kakadia and a Congress corporator’s husband and a party worker were found to be behind the incident.
Nitin Patel had blamed anti-social elements from Congress to be behind the incident. The incident happened when Nitin Patel was talking to reporters near Karjan Karoli village.
BJP media cell president Prashant Vada also had blamed the Congress for resorting to such tactics as it was sure of its defeat in the bypolls.
BJP state president CR Patil also criticised the incident stating that it was in Congress’ nature to act so low.
Police had begun an investigation in the matter and had searched several villages around the area to nab the accused.
