- Gujarat chief secretary Anil Mukim was to retire on August 30
The Centre has given a six month of additional extension to Gujarat chief secretary Anil Mukim. A notification regarding the same will soon be put out.
Mukim was to retire on August 30 as he had reached the retirement age. With the six-month extension, he will now retire on February 28, 2021.
Earlier stints in Gujarat Gujarat Chief Secretary Anil
Mukim, a 1985-batch IAS officer, was on central deputation as Union Mines secretary before being appointed as Gujarat Chief Secretary. He served as additional chief secretary General Administrative Department till February 2016, before going for a three-year Central deputation.
Mukim also served as municipal commissioner Ahmedabad and has headed the finance, revenue, health and family welfare departments in Gujarat.
Mukim replaced former Gujarat chief secretary JN Singh who retired in November 2019. JN Singh was also given a six-month extension before his retirement in November.
Mukim has been the chief secretary for nine months so far. Sources in the know said Mukim was not keen on an extension but the same was given due to the COVID-19 situation in the state.
