Ahmedabad: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson reached Delhi, the next stop of his two-day India visit. He was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning.
The two countries are expected to work towards a free trade agreement that will give companies in both countries free access to each other’s market.
On Thursday, the British PM commenced his tour from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. He visited the Sabarmati Ashram where he tried his hand at the charkha.
Later, he met Gujarat’s billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani over lunch.
The duo discussed energy transition, climate action, aerospace and defence collaboration among other things.
“Honoured to host @BorisJohnson, the first UK PM to visit Gujarat, at Adani HQ. Delighted to support climate & sustainability agenda with focus on renewables, green H2 & new energy,” Adani tweeted.
He added, “Will also work with UK companies to co-create defence & aerospace technologies.”
Boris Johnson later visited JCB factory at Halol GIDC along with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel. He hailed the factory as the “living breathing incarnation of the umbilicus between the UK and India”. Johnson left for Delhi in the evening
