- At least 15 persons injured; cause of blast unknown; sources say it was caused by gas pipeline burst
Lahore: Around 15-20 people were injured in a blast that took place in Johar town of Lahore in Pakistan on Wednesday. The blast took place outside the house of globally designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed of Lashar-e-Taiba.
According to reports, of those injured in the blast, at least two were said to be critical and in ICU. The injured were sent to Jinnah Hospital.
The cause of the explosion was being determined, said capital city police officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar. Sources said that it was because of explosion in the main gas pipeline in the area. However, rescue officials said that they had not been able to determine if it was a gas pipeline burst or a cylinder.
They added the number of injured could be higher.
Due to the impact, the glass window panes of nearby houses and buildings were shattered. Vehicles parked in the vicinity were also damaged badly.
Taking note of the incident, Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar has directed the IG to probe the incident and submit a report.
