Manoj K Karia, Gandhinagar: The BJP on Thursday announced the names of candidates for all the six municipal corporations in the state. If local workers are to be believed, the BJP’s decision to bar certain candidates who fell in one of the three new criteria have impacted over 100 former corporators.

The BJP had announced that it will not give tickets to those over 60 years of age, those who have had three terms, and relatives of BJP leaders.

The BJP’s decision had upset over 100 potential candidates who had sought a ticket for the elections but found themselves being disqualified duo the three new rules put in place.

Over 61 of present corporators of the party across all municipal corporations have had three or more terms. It is, however, not known how many of BJP’s party workers are related to the party’s leaders.
